The Right Way to Groom Your Dog

Grooming your dog the right way is a must for all dog-lovers out there. First is you got to have the primary technique to master in basic grooming for your dog which is dog hair untangling. That is basically the very first thing you need to do. If you are fortunate enough to have a dog that doesn’t have a problem with tangled hair, obviously the whole grooming procedure would be simpler. Untangled dog hair that is left unattended can actually cause some problems for the dog’s coat and possibly hurt him or her. Before bathing the dog, you take care first of knots and mats. If you don’t untangle them, they will tighten with the effect of water and before you know it you have a bigger problem to attend to. Having those tangle and knots worsen up would lead you to be an instant barber and cut off or shave your dog’s hair which is a sad picture to see.
You can start brushing your dog’s hair by brushing it with a hard comb with quick movements, but not strong ones so as to not hurt your dog. Your hand movement’s quickness is quite fundamental enough. Observe a professional dog groomer and you will notice how quickly or she brushes but what you don’t notice to them is that when they are brushing the dog’s hair, the tips of the brush do not actually touch the dog’s skin so the brushing is effective without hurting the animal.
If your dog’s regular comb is not working as well as it should be, you can use a de-matting comb and brush him by parts and make sure to grab hold of the base of the hair so as to not hurt the dog. This is a long procedure and will take a while but it is worth it. After untangling the knots, use then the regular comb. After that, use a small comb to finish the grooming. Just make sure that all that brushing does not hurt the skin of the dog.
